Carver Market and Community Grounds Expanding this Summer!

An architect’s rendering of the expanded interior of Community Grounds!

We have an exciting summer ahead of us here in Historic South Atlanta! As more of our neighbors receive their vaccines, we are slowly expanding opportunities to gather in person. Today, we wanted to share one opportunity we’re working on that fills us with joy.

Before the pandemic, Community Grounds was a welcoming hub where neighbors came for coffee and conversation. It was the heart of many gatherings in our neighborhood. When the pandemic hit, we closed the dining room at Community Grounds to protect our neighbors. Later, we opened it at limited capacity.

The Share the Love initiative counteracted some of this loss. Share the Love was about more than supporting neighbors’ food budgets. It was truly about sharing love and connection.  For some neighbors, our weekly visits were the only in-person conversation they would have each week.

This summer, we are preparing to welcome neighbors to Community Grounds and Carver Market, with a twist! Both spaces will be undergoing a renovation and expansion.

At Community Grounds, we are going to double the size of the space, the kitchen, and the bar.  Every change will give Community Grounds even more capacity to serve as a welcoming hub for neighbors and a space to build solidarity.

For Carver Market, the renovation will mean more refrigeration space for fresh food, more shelves, and greater variety of products! Giving choices is part of promoting dignity. We’re proud to be offering our shoppers even more choices soon.

We cannot wait to see the ways these renovations will create more opportunities for neighbors to thrive. Be sure to follow Carver Market and Community Grounds’ social media for construction updates and any disruption to our operating hours over the summer.
