Teachers on the Block

Teachers Make Great Neighbors

Teachers on the Block is a program designed to promote and enable employees of Purpose Built Schools Atlanta to buy homes near their schools.

FCS has partnered with Purpose Built Schools Atlanta and NeighborWork Columbus to provide PBSA employees the opportunity to qualify for $10,000 in down payment assistance for buying a home.

Qualification Details

Qualifications for Down Payment Assistance
  • Current employee of Purpose Built Schools Atlanta.
  • Buying a home within the PBSA footprint (the Price Middle School enrollment zone).
  • Home must be owner’s primary residence for at least 5 years.

  • Are you currently employed by Purpose Built Schools Atlanta?
  • Is the home you are looking to buy within the Price Middle School enrollment zone?

  • If you answered yes to both of these questions, you are eligible!
Next steps to become a Teacher on the Block
  • Prequalify for financing a home.
  • Put an eligible home under contract.
  • Your lender should complete this form to secure the down payment.
  • Our partner, NeighborWorks Columbus, will manage the application process.
Additional Guidelines
  • Qualifying home buyers must commit to stay in the home as their primary residence for 5 years. After 5 years, the Down Payment Assistance (DPA) will be forgiven. Homeowners selling before 5 years will be required to pay the funds by to FCS Community Finance depreciating 20% per year.
  • DPA will be in amounts of $10,000 per household.
  • Annual proof of residency is required to ensure eligibility requirements.
