2025 in Review: How We Showed Up Together

As the calendar flips toward 2026, we’re celebrating a year that repeatedly proved one thing: real transformation happens together.

At FCS, 2025 wasn’t defined by a single program or a big moment. It was built step by step, relationship by relationship, and act by act of showing up. Neighbors, partners, churches, families, and friends investing in people, places, and possibilities across Historic South Atlanta and Thomasville Heights. This made all the difference.

Here’s a look at what together made possible in 2025:

Investing in People and Potential

Big futures start on solid foundations. This year, we saw them taking shape at every age.

  • 80 youth built critical life skills through our Youth Group programming, laying the foundation for long-term success.
  • We launched our first-ever Early Learning Space with 16 young learners! Completed in partnership with the United Way of Greater Atlanta and the Villages at Carver YMCA, this nurturing environment is designed to support healthy development and kick off our Cradle-to-Career pipeline.
  • 10 neighborhood churches joined us through our new Neighboring Well initiative, building deeper collaboration for community flourishing.

When support starts early and is strengthened by partnership, hope has room to grow.

Creating Stable & Affordable Places to Call Home

Home matters. And in 2025, stability was built brick by brick, repair by repair.

  • 7 new affordable single-family homes were completed for individuals and families on their path to homeownership.
  • 32 families remained safely housed in our rental portfolio, providing vital stability.
  • 38 seniors and neighbors with disabilities stayed in their homes and avoided displacement through our Legacy Home Preservation & Critical Repair program. We also hosted anti-displacement fairs, educating neighbors on critical tools like Homestead Exemptions, Tax Abatement, and Heirs Property services.
  • At Haven at South Atlanta, we deepened our partnership with Pennrose Development to continue providing quality, affordable multi-family housing (84 units).
  • We successfully closed the loan for our Brownsville Pointe development, which will soon make way for 18 new apartment units (12 affordable) and 1,800 square feet of commercial space for a new entrepreneurial opportunity right in the neighborhood.

Stability isn’t just about shelter. It’s about staying rooted in the place we call home.

Building Economic Resilience & Community

Thriving neighborhoods need more than services. They need access, jobs, and places to gather.

  • Our food co-ops increased food security for 35 neighbors, distributing over 60,000 pounds of food.
  • Carver Neighborhood Market and Community Grounds Café provided:
    • 20 local jobs
    • Access to healthy food options
    • A safe, welcoming “third space” where neighbors could gather and connect
  • Through our Financial Achievement Clubs (thanks to partnerships with United Way and PNC Bank), 25 seniors built up emergency savings, with a dollar-for-dollar match.

Economic resilience grows when neighbors have access to opportunity and community.

The Big Win of 2025

2025 wasn’t about doing more. It was about doing it together.

Across youth development, early learning, housing, food security, financial wellness, and faith partnerships, one truth became clear: when neighbors invest in neighbors, whole communities rise.

We’re so grateful for the partners, donors, volunteers, and neighbors who made 2025 what it was: a year of deepening relationships and lasting impact.

Here’s to what we’ll build in 2026, together
