Exciting Improvements Coming to Carver Market

FCS is thrilled to announce that FCS recently received a $50,000 grant from Invest Atlanta, which will help us make important upgrades at Carver Market. This funding is being used to enhance market operations, upgrade point-of-sale systems, and update essential kitchen equipment. These improvements will create a better shopping experience for our Historic South Atlanta neighbors, making the store more efficient, accessible, and welcoming.

A big part of this grant has allowed for the replacement of Carver Market’s outdated checkout system, which had been in place for 10 years. The old system wasn’t designed for grocery retail, making it harder for staff to serve customers quickly and effectively. With this upgrade, shoppers will enjoy a smoother, faster checkout process, and the store will be able to accept more types of payments—ensuring that everyone in the community can shop with ease.

Beyond improving the checkout process, the new POS system will enhance store operations by enabling targeted marketing and pricing displays throughout the store. These changes will make it easier for shoppers to find deals and save money while supporting their neighborhood store.

In addition to the POS system upgrade, FCS is using the grant to invest in essential equipment for Carver Market’s kitchen, as well as a new pallet jack. These improvements are helping the store operate more efficiently, further supporting its mission to provide fresh, affordable groceries to South Atlanta residents.

Jeff Delp, FCS’s Director of Economic Development, shared his excitement about these changes saying, “This investment significantly improves the customer experience, and creates a more user friendly experience for both the customer and the cashier.”

FCS remains committed to strengthening economic opportunities in Historic South Atlanta, and this upgrade is another step toward that goal. We look forward to continuing rolling out these changes and seeing their positive impact in the neighborhood!
