American Heart Association Partnership Cooking Classes

At FCS, we believe that access to healthy, affordable food is essential for thriving neighborhoods. That’s why we’re thrilled we had the opportunity to partner with the American Heart Association to launch a weekly cooking class series—led by our very own Tanisha Corporal, a dedicated neighbor, FCS board member, and South Atlanta Civic League leader!

Food is more than just nourishment—it’s a foundation for health, connection, and well-being. Learning to prepare nutritious meals can make a lasting difference in a household, especially in communities where access to healthy, affordable ingredients is a challenge. These classes empowered participants to make informed choices, stretch their grocery budgets, and create meals that support their long-term health.

Each week of the cooking class, neighbors gathered at FCS to learn hands-on cooking skills, discover simple, budget-friendly recipes, and explore how nutrition impacts overall well-being. Thanks to our partnership with Carver Market, participants also received grocery gift cards to recreate the meals at home, ensuring that the lessons extend beyond the classroom and into their everyday lives.

We’re grateful for Tanisha’s leadership and passion for community well-being and food access. Through her guidance, neighbors not only learned valuable cooking techniques but also built confidence in the kitchen, strengthened community ties, and took control of their health in a supportive environment.

We look forward to seeing the ripple effect of food education throughout the neighborhood, because when we invest in health, we invest in a stronger, more vibrant community.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue working together to make healthy eating accessible for all!
