Easter in South Atlanta: A Celebration of Joy, Community, and Hope

You know it’s going to be a good day when you see a youth group leader dressed in a panda bear costume, covered in Easter eggs, being chased by a pack of giggling kids. That kind of joy? It’s what makes our annual South Atlanta Easter Egg Hunt so special. This beloved tradition brought neighbors together once again for an afternoon full of fun, connection, and memories that will last long after the candy is gone.

Last week, Lucious Simon Park came alive with laughter and excitement as kids dashed across the grass, baskets swinging, on a mission to find the most colorful eggs (and hopefully a golden one too). But it wasn’t just about the hunt, it was about the hands and hearts that made it happen. Neighbors stepped up in beautiful ways, donating candy, stuffing eggs, setting up games, and creating a space where everyone could belong.

Parents enjoyed Chick-fil-A while catching up with friends and meeting new neighbors. Even those without kids showed up just to be part of the joy. And of course, no egg hunt is complete without a special appearance from the Easter Bunny, who made sure to bring smiles and photo ops for kids and their families.

Events like this don’t happen because of one organization, they happen because of a network of neighbors who care deeply about the people around them. We’re especially grateful to the volunteers and donors who brought this celebration to life, and to our incredible youth team, especially those brave enough to wear egg-covered costumes to make the day extra memorable. This is the power of neighboring in action.

At FCS, we’re grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another. Whether it’s a weekly gathering or a community-wide celebration, these are the moments that shape our neighborhood and remind us of the joy of doing life together.

We’re already looking forward to next year!
