Where Partnership Meets Purpose: Celebrating New Beginnings in Thomasville Heights

At FCS, we’ve always believed that revitalizing communities begins with listening, collaborating, and showing up with long-term commitment. On a bright and hopeful day in Thomasville Heights, that belief came to life at our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, marking the completion of the pilot phase of a powerful partnership with Pinnacle Bank. Together, we’re not just building houses. We’re laying foundations for opportunity, stability, and community pride.

This wasn’t just any ribbon-cutting. The event brought together an inspiring group of neighbors, civic leaders, banking partners, and FCS team members, each playing a vital role in transforming a once-vacant lot into a high-quality, affordable home.

We were honored to be joined by Reggie White from the City of Atlanta, along with Pinnacle’s Rob Garcia, Melissa Turner, and Paige Collier. Representing the heart of the community were Jeff Stancil and Maria White-Dumas from the Thomasville Heights Civic League. And as always, the full force of the FCS staff showed up with heart and hard hats.

During the ceremony, FCS Interim President Marvin Nesbitt delivered remarks that reminded us why we do this work. “This partnership is not just about bricks and mortar; it’s about building lives, fostering stability, and creating a legacy of opportunity,” he shared. “It’s about the child who will grow up in a safe, affordable home. It’s about the ripple effect of investment, sparking further growth, local businesses, and a renewed sense of pride.”

Through individual conversations, neighbors also shared their excitement and gratitude, noting how much this build means for the Thomasville Heights community. What was once an unused lot is now a beautifully built home, one that represents dignity, hope, and a tangible investment in the people who call this neighborhood home.

It was a day full of smiles, handshakes, shared vision, and mutual appreciation. It’s easy to focus on the finished product, a beautiful house, but we also want to pause and recognize what made it possible: the strategic vision of our financial partners, the relentless dedication of our staff, and the trust and leadership of the community.

This partnership with Pinnacle Bank gives FCS access to flexible capital, significantly increasing our ability to produce affordable single-family homes like this one. It’s a powerful example of what’s possible when financial institutions and nonprofit organizations work together for the good of the community.

At the end of the day, the real impact of this project lies in its potential to ripple outward, to inspire more investments, more partnerships, and more vibrant futures.

Here’s to turning vacant lots into homes, and homes into hope. Thank you to everyone who made this day possible. We’re just getting started.
