We recently celebrated one of FCS’s most meaningful milestones of 2025: the launch of our first-ever Early Learning Space, welcoming 16 young learners into a nurturing, play-based environment designed just for them.
Created in partnership with United Way of Greater Atlanta and the Villages at Carver Family YMCA, Learning Spaces marks the first step in our Cradle-to-Career education initiative, walking alongside children and families from the very beginning.
Why start so early? Because the earliest years matter more than we often realize. More brain development happens between birth and age three than during the rest of childhood combined. Yet, in the 30315 footprint, there are only eight early childhood centers, leaving an estimated 540-seat gap for our youngest neighbors. With continued neighborhood growth, the demand for early learning options will only increase.

This shortage makes one thing clear: families need more available, accessible, affordable, and adequate early learning options. Every child deserves the best possible start. That’s why we’re working to strengthen early learning across our neighborhoods by:
- Raising awareness about the critical importance of early childhood education
- Supporting and sustaining early childhood providers
- Strengthening existing facilities
- Increasing seat capacity so more children can access high-quality care
Learning Spaces is part of our response.
This exciting new space is the result of months of community playdates, partnership, and preparation. It’s a place where children can explore and grow, where families can connect and build relationships, and where our community can come together to invest in its future.
Together with our partners, we’re laying the foundation for a stronger, more equitable educational ecosystem—one that ensures every child in Historic South Atlanta and Thomasville Heights has the opportunity to thrive from the very start.
