Candace Salim, Major Gifts Officer

Candace, a native of Atlanta, connects profoundly with the city. When we asked her about what she loves about her home, she said, “What I love most is the fact that we can live/work/play in the city—there’s so much to do, and we know about all of the hidden gems off the beaten path!” Beyond her professional life, her two toddlers keep her busy. She also hosts dinner parties with her friends. Because of her innate drive to connect with others, she was drawn to FCS’ mission.

“As an Atlanta native, the work FCS does is near and dear to my heart. It is truly a full circle moment to now be able to help build up the same communities that raised me to be the woman and professional that I am today.” When she evaluated her skills, she knew she could offer a contribution to FCS.

“Since fundraising and development are a passion of mine and the primary theme of my current career path, I immediately went to the website to read more about the FCS Mission,” She reflected. A few days later after she looked up the organization, she found out that FCS looked to hire a Major Gifts Officer. She immediately applied and received an interview.

“I had the pleasure of meeting team members, visiting the Carver Market/Community Grounds, and seeing volunteers set up the Pride for Parents Christmas store during my onsite interview. At that moment, I excitedly told the team that I wanted to be involved with FCS no matter what—as a volunteer, an employee, whatever I can do to help!” Candace’s enthusiasm for cultivating community is a true honor for us. We can’t wait to see how Candace’s role magnifies the work to allow our neighborhood to thrive!
