Last Wednesday, we finally entered the demolition phase on Brownsville Pointe!
This milestone has been a long time coming. Over five years, we’ve faced hurdles, ranging from environmental challenges to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initial remediation removed underground gas storage tanks, but soil contamination required further work.
Through collaboration with the City of Atlanta and Invest Atlanta, we secured Brownfield Program funding to replace the contaminated soil with fresh soil. With demolition underway, the site is finally being prepared for affordable housing and a much-needed restaurant. This tangible progress strengthens trust with neighbors, inspires hope, and reinforces our commitment to delivering a quality amenity for the neighborhood.
Throughout my time in community revitalization work, one thing I have learned is that although challenges are inevitable, perseverance, adaptability, and strong partnerships keep projects moving forward. Every obstacle we’ve faced has strengthened our resolve to see this vision through.
We’re grateful for the progress on Brownsville Pointe, and can’t wait to update you as we continue to see the vision come to life.
